LEYA Live in Belfast with Starsailor
As part of 2 special performances at home in Belfast during June, LEYA will be performing with Starsailor at Custom House Square on the 24th for Cinemagic Music. It is £18.00 pound a ticket and doors open around 2.00pm.

The band just posted a couple of new tracks on it's MySpace www.myspace.com/leyatheband site for you to check out. There's a stripped down acoustic 'On All My Sundays' from DCAL FM in Dublin and a live version of 'Stay' recorded at Blackburn University. Plus some new band pics and Gareth's latest musings on the blog.



LEYA on the radio and on TV this week
Leya will be in session on the Janice Long Show on BBC Radio 2  in the wee small hours on Tuesday morning 21st February. Thanks to the Beeb's online Listen Again player, you will be able to check the session out at anytime for the following week. Then there is the Leya 4Play documentary which airs at 1.20am on Channel 4 on Sunday 26th February. 'In Our Hands'
Due to what they call in the business "logistical issues" the release date of 'In Our Hands' has moved to Friday 7th April in Ireland and Monday 10th April in the UK.

Michael Plays at George Best's Funeral
Michael is very privileged to have been asked to play at George Best's Funeral. It was a very sad occasion in honour of a great talent. Many thanks also to the Ulster Orchestra who did a fantastic job with such short notice.

Leya announce new single details...
Leya's new single will be 'On All My Sundays', and it will be released in Ireland on November 18th and in the UK on November 21st. The CD will include the radio edit of 'On All My Sundays', plus 'On My Mind' and 'Say What You Want To Say' (Live & acoustic @ the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast).

The limited edition white vinyl 7" will include 'On All My Sundays' and 'On My Mind'. There will also be an extended version of 'On All My Sundays' which will only be available on iTunes and other download platforms. Sound clips from the new single will be available to stream on this website from next week.

The band will be on the 'New Band Stage' at approx 1pm on Sunday 10th July. Get your tickets before they sell out!

LEYA were in the USA playing amazing shows at the IMRO/NEMO showcases In Boston MA, attended as guests at the Boston music awards where they drank with locals Aerosmith and then on to New York City where they hung out backsatge with the Killers in Manhattan and played pool with the Strokes. A return trip to NYC/Boston to play some great shows may happen in March.

LEYA were locked in a villa in the South of France for the 5 weeks before Christmas where they were recording their debut album after signing a 3 album recording contract with MCD's Dublin based label Rubyworks.

They are in Ireland at the minute mixing the results and will soon be mastering in London with a planned single release in May and Album shortly after. Title to be confirmed. A track list will be available on the web site soon.

There will be extensive touring in the Summer in Ireland, the UK and Europe.

If you keep your eyes peeled on the web site - the band will be playing some low key slots at home as a warm up before the touring to try out the new material and blow the studio cob webs off! These won't be advertised anywhere other than the web site - so check in and say hi.

...Yes!!! Leya have just returned from the south of France were we have been recording our debut album. We have just signed a three album deal with Dublin based label Rubyworks. The debut album is due for release in may 2005. more news to follow soon

LEYA have confirmed a number of dates live dates across America in 2004. They will be playing in the 'NEMO FESTIVAL' in Boston 1 - 3 October and 'GMJ' in New York 10 - 14 Oct. Other Dates TBC.

LEYA to release limited edition 4 track EP on June 18th in BELFAST

LEYA will finally launch a limited edition EP prior to any album release on June 18th and the lauch will be at home in the Belfast Live Lounge!
This will be the band's 1st big show at home for some time and the gig should be party atmosphere so make sure ye don't miss it. The CD will be on sale on this night exclusively and will be limited to 1000 copies.

Thanks too all for coming to the recent gigs - Debut album will arrive in the Autumn

LEYA will spend July in Donegal putting the finishing touches to the debut album. Most parts have already been recorded and now string section overdubs are taking place alongside mixing. Stay tuned for details of the album title and artwork which be released on this site first in August. THANKS in the meantime to everyone who attended the spate of live shows in Belfast, Dublin and London. New dates will follow after recording.

Well...what an amazing night at Strawberry Sunday in the Cresent Arts Centre. Our thanks go in particular to Kresanna for the organisational skills, Rob ' The Horse' (again) for sound and lights, and particular thanks to the Dennison String Quartet for performing with LEYA - a collaboration set to continue we're glad to report.
